Behind the success of an expat man is a pinay wife ...

Very recently my husband and i attended a dinner party with the other expats whose wives are all filipinas. One of the things that struck me most was the fact that all these high profile executives have pinays for wives ... that just goes to say that: behind every man's success is a woman (and in this case, filipina woman!)

It was an intimate dinner with 5 couples all in all. The booze were great and the conversations were warm. Amazingly, all the expats had their own tagalog phrases to spill out once in a while. And all of these 'puti' have proclaimed their love for our dear country, the Philippines. Most of them even see themselves retiring in our beloved 'perlas ng silanganan'.

It got me thinking that even in the worse political situation that our country may be in, there are still people (and in this case the foreigners) who have hope for the future of the Philippines. It's not just because they are husbands of pinays that they feel strongly for the country but because they have experienced for themselves the uniqueness of filipinos from our hospitality, close family ties to our fascinating sense of humor which normally brings the better out of our wits during crisis.

As for the pinays, all of them in the party have this commanding aura. They cannot be labeled as 'doormat wives' since they bravely speak out their minds if the need arises. Each one of them grace every conversation with intellect and self confidence. They easily laugh at jokes and intently listen to what the others have to say. Just goes to show how empowered pinays are: empowered to speak up, empowered to decide, empowered to love and be loved ...

I sure am proud to be pinay!

sis isay ... i'm really glad that these pinays i'm regularly seeing have something in between their ears ... kahit papano i can talk to them from the very trival topic to the most profound ... kahit papano they help me keep my sanity! heheheheheh ...

and you're right, some of our kabaro have to be reoriented with the rights to equality and the right to speak up!

Shouldn't you capitalize the f in Filipina?

american you can do with a small "a"

but Filipino/Filipina, it should be with a capital "F"

There is no doubt aboutthe greatness of Pinay and Pinoy everywhere. The only thing that's dragging us behind are those crazy politicians back home.

Mabuhay ka kabayan.
